9 Reasons your Website ISN’T Converting (and how to fix them!)

Your Website is your online home and #1 Client Conversion Machine...

So if your site isn’t booking out your programs with dream clients consistently, you probably are making one (or more) of these common website mistakes.

Want to know what they are and how to fix them?

Here are the top 9 reasons your website isn’t converting:

1. YOU DON'T HAVE CTA'S ON EACH PAGE

CTA’s (or Call to Actions) are KEY when it comes to creating an easy to navigate website.

CTA’s make it easy for a potential client to easily find what they’re looking for, whether that’s joining your email list, checking out your offers or applying to work with you.

This is why you should include at least one CTA on each page to show them where to go next.

Pro Tip: When it comes to CTA’s there’s a fine line between helpful and completely overwhelming, so make sure you don’t add too many CTA’s on each page, because that will just confuse your viewer. Instead keep them to a minimum, and most importantly, make sure they’re CLEAR.

2. USING PIXELATED OR BLURRY IMAGES

Your photography can make or break your website, and nothing screams unprofessional more than blurry, pixelated or low quality images.

So if you want to elevate your website instantly, invest in a professional photographer to take on-brand photos of YOU that showcase your unique personality, brand colors, vibes and aesthetic.

Pro Tip: If you truly don’t have the budget to do a professional photoshoot, you can purchase stock photography. Some of my favorites are Unsplash, Pikwizard, Pexels and Pixabay.

3. UNCLEAR BRANDING + MESSAGING

I hate to break it to you, but can’t build your website without having a solid brand (and brand strategy).

So before you even think about building your website, ask yourself this:

  • Do I have a clear brand strategy?

  • Do I know who my ideal client is?

  • Is my messaging clear?

  • Do I have a brand that showcases my unique MAGIC?

  • Do I have my logos, color palette, fonts, and brand elements?

  • Do I have professional Brand Photography?

  • Do I have a website content strategy?

Focus on answering all of these questions first, so that when you actually build your website, you have the strategy + branding to truly make it STAND OUT.

4. CONFUSING OFFERS

I know it’s obvious, but it’s crazy how often people mess up with this step.

You need to be CLEAR when it comes to your offers, what’s included, and most importantly, the transformation they will have by working with you.

Pro Tip: At the end of the day people care more about the results than what’s included in your offer (number of calls, modules, etc). So make sure you showcase the value of your offer and the results they can expect from joining your program.

5. NO TESTIMONIALS

Social proof is EVERYTHING. People want to know you're the real deal, so they will be looking for your testimonials + previous client results before hiring you.

Pro Tip: Sprinkle client testimonials on your homepage, work with me page, and especially on your sales pages. Make sure to showcase your client RESULTS on your testimonials, to give a potential client an idea of what’s possible for them if they work with you.

6. HAVING AN OVER COMPLICATED NAVIGATION BAR

Having too many tabs on your navigation bar will only confuse your viewers and make them leave your site.

No one wants decode your navigation bar to find what they're looking for, so keep it simple!!! Stick to only 5-7 tabs in your nav bar.

Pro Tip: You want to make is as easy as possible for them sign up to your newsletter or apply to work with you. The less times they have to click to get there the better.

7. YOUR SITE TAKES TOO LONG TO LOAD

Ideally your site should take between 1-3 seconds to load.

No one wants to wait forever for a site to load, so if your website takes more than 5 seconds people will start to leave.

The biggest culprit for slow loading websites? Large images.

Pro Tip: Resize or compress your photos with a photo optimizer, so they load quicker on your website.

8. YOU'RE NOT COLLECTING EMAILS

Not everyone that lands on your website is ready to buy and that’s okay!

So how do you nurture your leads so they can eventually become clients? You guessed it… through your email list!

Make sure you add your opt-in to your homepage and make it easy for them to find + sign up.

Pro Tip: If no one is signing up to your email list, it’s probably because you don’t have an enticing enough offer. Make sure your opt-in is valuable AF and that it’s something your target audience actually wants!

9. YOUR WEBSITE ISN’T MOBILE OPTIMIZED

This is probably the WORST mistake you can make.

Over 60% of people are looking at your website through their phone, so if your website isn’t optimized for mobile, that’s 60% of your viewers going bye bye. Ouch right?

To prevent this from happening, make sure your website looks just as good on mobile.

This is one of the biggest reasons I love Squarespace. Squarespace makes this super easy by optimizing your site automatically for mobile so you really don’t have to do much.

Pro Tip: Not all website platforms make it this easy to optimize for mobile, so keep that in mind when choosing your website platform.

I hope these tips help you take your website to the next level! What was your biggest mistake, and have you fixed it? Let me know in the comments!

xx, Angela
